Elissa Lee Koljonen plays a violin by Lorenzo Storioni of Cremona, made in 1787.
She's a romantic. "We wanted to make an album of heartbreakingly beautiful pieces," Elissa Lee Koljonen explained. For her debut recording, she put together a program that was a little different from the usual collection of violin encores.
"In the old days," said Koljonen, "encore pieces made up a large part of a violinist's repertoire. There's so much great music of this style, it's a shame it's not heard more often. We try to bring some of that back with this recording."
